Why isn't this a cruel joke? Why?

5th-Sep-2009 02:13 pm - Roll Tide!
hollow bonk
Yea, Alabama! Drown 'em Tide!
Every 'Bama man's behind you;
Hit your stride!
Go teach the Bulldogs to behave,
Send the Yellow Jackets to a watery grave!
And if a man starts to weaken,
That's a shame!
For 'Bama's pluck and grit
Have writ her name in crimson flame!
Fight on, fight on, fight on, men!
Remember the Rose Bowl we'll win then!
Go, roll to victory,
Hit your stride,
You're Dixie's football pride, Crimson Tide!

The con is going pretty well. I'm in the executive suite on the top floor of the Hilton Atlanta. This might as well be a prison though. The emotions and feelings that I'm supposed to feel I do not. The passing of an elder isn't the end of my life but the end of a legacy. The end of a legend in my family. I, of course, am talking about my grandmother. My meme. She was the one who not only took my family in several times but she took Nicole in as well. She was a wonderful woman who lived many long years. She will be missed.

Death is inevitable. You and I will both die one day. It is my hope for us both that we have come to terms with it by then and we have led wonderfully full lives. I hope that you and I leave behind a legacy as full and rich in diversity as she has. That when we go people will have memories to talk about instead of things they try and forget.

As I stood looking out upon the south Atlanta skyline this morning it made me realize a few things.

1. Holy Hell I am -WAY- off the ground. (oh come on, it was early)
2. Steve Conte is a man who can really sing. ("Living inside the shell")
3. (the important one) In this life people come and go. Life moves from the womb to the grave seamlessly. As Ben Folds put it "And life barrels on like a runaway train. Where the passengers change. They don't change anything. You get off; someone else can get on."

The bustling city of Atlanta has taught me, this morning, that life moves on. Just because someone dies, the world doesn't stop. It may seem like the world owes you some pity for your loss. I'm here to tell you that the most important thing you can do is move forward into the knowledge that your loved one has passed on and your life will go on. There's no Phoenix down or Raise III that can get them back. You remember the good things and learn from the bad. It is all you can do to keep yourself from going insane. Just lift your chin, Find a song to move you, and move yourself back into the world. Those, my friends, are my words for you and with that I am finished.

My mother and brother were in a car accident today. We live on the right side of a 4 lane highway road. They were coming from the left. A man in a truck motions them across when this man flies around the line of cars and T-bones them. Totaling our car. The man who motioned them? He takes off after the impact and is no where to be found. My family is okay however the car is totaled. We will get at most 1/6th the value of the car. The person who hit them was like "oh oh i think i have whiplash" which means YOU WERE GOING TOO FAST . . . either way just thoughts for my family, my friends. That's all I can ask for. . . . .

And i just keep on waiting, waiting on the world to change.
It's a fight

Figured I'd post this again in case your forgot. :D
